Stack's Bowers September 2025 Collectors Choice sale, lot 75504
SB925-75504r.jpg

This specimen was lot 75504 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, September 2025), where it sold for $1,320. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. Penny, ND (1662-85). London Mint. Charles II. NGC MS-66. Type F, with smaller second bust and double-arched crown. From the Richard August Collection." This milled but undated issue is attributed to 1660-62 in the SCWC but the 1662-70 span cited in Numista makes more sense, as dated pennies with the monogram reverse were introduced in 1670.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 0.50 g, 0.925 fine silver.

Catalog reference: S-3389; ESC-589.
