Sincona sale 77, lot 2360

This specimen was lot 2360 in Sincona sale 77 (Zürich, May 2022), where it sold for 7,000 CHF (about US$8,497 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"GREAT BRITAIN | Königreich. James I. 1603-1625. Unite n. d. (1617-1618), London. NGC MS60. Überdurchschnittliche Erhaltung. (kingdom of Great Britain, James I, 1603-25, undated unite, London mint. Second coinage. Mintmark crescent. Extraordinary condition.)"

This unite of James's second issue was accompanied by a rose ryal (Fr-230), angel, half angel (Fr-233), spur ryal (Fr-231), double crown (Fr-235), crown (Fr-238) and half crown (Fr-237). With the accession of James I we drop "England" as the country name and adopt the current "Great Britain."
