Stephen Album sale 50, lot 2057

This specimen was lot 2057 in Stephen Album sale 50 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2024), where it sold for $264. The catalog description[1] noted, "GEORGIA (OTTOMAN OCCUPATION): Ahmad III, 1723-1730, AR 2 shahi, Tiflis, AH1115, type B, date weak but sufficiently legible; excellent example of this very rare type, bold F-VF, RR. Tiflis in the Arabic form for Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia." The kingdom of Georgia, in the Caucasus mountains, was contended by the Ottomans and the Persians before falling under Russian rule in the early nineteenth century. This issue names the Ottoman sultan, Ahmed III, who ruled 1703-30. This is listed in the SCWC as a half abbasi.
