Geneva 1563-P sol

Sincona sale 102, lot 5190

This specimen was lot 5190 in Sincona Auction 102 (Zürich, October 2025), where it sold for 1,600 CHF (about US$2,412 including buyers' fees). The catalog description^[1] noted,

"SCHWEIZ Genf/Genève, Stadt und Kanton, 1 Sol 1563, Genf. Mzz. P. Von grosser Seltenheit. Gutes sehr schön. Exemplar der Auktion NGSA 18, Genf, November 2022, Los 2065. (Switzerland, city and canton of Geneva, one sol of 1563, Geneva mint. Of high rarity, Good Very Fine.)"

This type was struck 1536-40, 1550-76, 1580-97, and many dates have mintmaster's initials. One thaler was 96 sols.
