This specimen was lot 373 in Goldberg sale 136 (Los Angeles, September 2023), where it sold for $216. The catalog description[1] noted, "French Indochina. 2 Sapeque, 1901-A. A sparkling gem specimen. NGC graded MS-65 Red. from Goldberg's Auction 59, lot 3776. The Peh Family Collection." This type was struck 1887-89, 1892-1902 as a two sapeque, as can be seen by the Chinese character for "2" ("ニ") on the reverse. It was worth two-fifths of a cent.
