This specimen was lot 33988 in Heritage sale 3067 (Long Beach, September 2018), where it sold for $120. The catalog description[1] noted, "[French Indochina: French Colony 2 Sapeque 1899-A MS66 Red NGC, Paris mint. A piece glowing with original mint-red radiance, defined by its remarkably clean fields. Tied for finest graded at NGC. From the Feeling Good Collection." This type was struck 1887-89, 1892-1902 as a two sapeque, as can be seen by the Chinese character for "2" ("ニ") on the reverse.
Recorded mintage: 5,000,000, a common date.
