This specimen was lot 74475 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, September 2024), where it sold for $312. The catalog description[1] noted, "FRENCH INDO-CHINA. 20 Centimes, 1898-A. Paris Mint. PCGS AU-55. Pleasingly toned and only lightly circulated, this specimen retains a charming glint of lustrous brilliance among the protected areas." The denomination was reduced from 5.44 grams to 5.4 grams in 1896 and then debased from 0.900 to 0.835 fine silver in 1898. The twenty cent was struck in that form until 1916.
