Jean Elsen sale 162, lot 1925

This specimen was lot 1925 in Jean Elsen sale 162 (Brussels, June 2025), where it sold for €2,400 (about US$3,327 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"FRANCE, Cinquième République (1959-), AV 665,957 francs, 2001, Paris. Europa. 2000 p. frappées. Écrin et certificat. Titre 0,999. (France, Fifth Republic, since 1959, gold francs of 2001, Paris mint. Box and certificate included, Proof.)"

This design was also used for a five ounce gold NCLT (KM 1267.1), of which only 99 were made. The face value of 655.957 francs = 100 euro.

Recorded mintage: 2,000.

Specification: 31.10 g, 0.999 fine gold, 37 mm diameter, this specimen 31,10 g.
