France 1975 10 francs
The first specimen was lot 2422 in Sincona sale 80 (Zürich, October 2022), where it sold for 1,800 CHF (about US$2,157 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "FRANCE, 5. Republik, seit 1959. 10 Francs 1975, Paris. Piéfort in Gold. Only 200 pieces struck and only 62 pieces put into circulation. Uncirculated." This specimen is from a type struck at the Paris mint for France 1974-87 altho some years saw the denomination struck only for collector sets.
Recorded mintage: 48,514,311[2] plus 62 in gold (KM P535) and 500 in silver (KM P534).
Specification: aluminum copper nickel, 26 mm diameter, 10 g, lettered edge. This specimen is 38.85 g.
