This specimen was lot 3334 in Stephen Album sale 38 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2020), where it sold for $190.40. The catalog description[1] noted, "FRANCE: Henri IV, 1589-1610, AR ¼ ecu, 1605, Rennes Mint issue (numeral 9 mintmark), Choice EF. This may, in fact, be a rare piece, as the major references don't list Rennes as a mint for this type." Most of the quarter écus of this period have the king's name on the shield side; this one has the king's name start at the top of the cross side.
Recorded mintage: 557,782, a common date.
