This specimen was lot 1725 in Goldberg sale 128 (Los Angeles, June 2022), where it sold for $552. The catalog description[1] noted, "France. Teston, 1556-D (Lyon). 2nd type. Henri II, 1547-1559. Bare head right, in uniform. Reverse: Crowned shield of France, between two crowned H's. Toned. Only one graded at PCGS. PCGS graded EF-45." Sombart[2] reports nine known in his survey, making this a somewhat common date. The teston had a face value of 11 sols, 4 deniers.

Recorded mintage: 17,330 + 150,322[2] for two mintmasters, including a few half testons.
