This specimen was lot 1711 in Goldberg sale 128 (Los Angeles, June 2022), where it sold for $630. The catalog description[1] noted, "France. Gros Tournois, undated. Jean II le Bon, 1350-1364. Chatel tournois. Reverse: Short cross pattee, circular legends around. Pop 1; the only one graded at PCGS. PCGS graded AU-5." This issue was the first emission of this type. It had a face value of eight deniers tournois because of its base alloy.
