This specimen was lot 20148 in Stack's Bowers 2018 NYINC sale (New York, January 2018), where it sold for $3,840. The catalog description[1] noted, "FRANCE. Mouton d'Or, ND (1355). Jean II (Jean Le Bon) (1350-64). NGC MS-62. This 'golden sheep' was worth 25 sols tournois and was accompanied by a half mouton d'or. Well struck with nearly full rims on a round planchet. A premium specimen with full crisp legends on both sides, soft satin luster and excellent eye appeal." Duplessy notes that this type had a face value of 25 sols tournois. The half mouton d'or or moutonnet is so rare that Duplessy shows no picture of it.
