Patagons were issued in the Spanish Netherlands and associated states (including the bishopric of Liège and Franche Comte) during the seventeenth century, where they competed with French écus, German talers and Dutch daalders and ducatons. This type was struck 1622-23, 1626-33, 1638-65. The series is plagued by bad planchets and poor strikes, reducing their appeal to collectors.

Reported Mintage: unknown.

Specification: 28.10 g, 0.875 fine silver, this specimen 27,98 g.

Catalog reference: Dav-4494, KM 34, G.H. 329-6; Delm-297; V.H. 645.
