This specimen was lot 13315 in Heritage auction 3510 (Memphis, TN, June 2010), where it sold for $16,100. The catalog description[1] noted,
"Only Date Back in Track & Price Census, Lordsburg, CA - $10 1902 Date Back Fr. 619 The First NB Ch. # (P)9599. This bank issued under two different titles, as this Los Angeles County community dropped the name Lordsburg, which it had taken in 1886 to honor I.W. Lord, who had laid out the town, in favor of LaVerne in 1916. Four notes are known with this issuing location, with this piece tracing its pedigree to the Colver collection, where we opined "This is a magnificent note that is certain to become one of the highlights of the collection it now enters. It is by a wide margin the finest example in the census, and is one of the very nicest small town California notes that exists from any location." PMG clearly agrees, assigning a grade of Gem Uncirculated 65 EPQ to this beautiful note. For devotees of rarity and quality, notes do not get much better than this. From the Old Line Collection."

"Lordsburg, CA - $20 1902 Date Back Fr. 645 The First NB Ch. # (P)9599. This bank issued under two different titles, as this Los Angeles County community dropped the name Lordsburg, which it had taken in 1886 to honor I.W. Lord, who had laid out the town, in favor of LaVerne in 1916. Five notes are known from this issuing location, with this piece tracing its pedigree to the Colver and Horwedel collections. PMG Very Fine 20, with some light spotting and staining."

"Lordsburg, CA - $10 1902 Plain Back Fr. 627 The First NB Ch. # (P)9599 PMG Choice Fine 15. This bank issued under two different titles, as this Los Angeles County community dropped the name Lordsburg, which it had taken in 1886 to honor I.W. Lord, who had laid out the town, in favor of LaVerne in 1916. Five notes are known from this issuing location, with this piece one of that quintet and a note that is crossing the auction block for the first time. It is a well circulated but intact note which retains bold pen signatures. Included with the lot is a cancelled check from the bank dated March 16, 1912. From the Norris Turner Collection."

"Lordsburg, CA - $20 1902 Plain Back Fr. 653 The First NB Ch. # (P)9599 PMG Very Fine 30. Another note bearing this scarce bank's first issuing title and one of the five examples in the census. It is a bright, well margined $20 with nice color and bold signatures. From the Norris Turner Collection."

The first specimen was lot 20367 in Stack's Bowers Baltimore Auction (Baltimore, March 2018), where it sold for $2,880. The catalog description[1] noted, "La Verne, California. $10 1902 Plain Back. Fr. 632. The First NB. Charter #9599. PCGS Very Fine 20. This is the first time we have been able to offer a note from this very scarce Los Angeles County bank. There are just eight total notes reported to this second title and 13 total large for the entire bank. An overall pleasing example."
The second specimen was lot 17782 in Heritage auction 354 (the Horwedel sale, Long Beach, CA, September 2004), where it sold for $7,475. The catalog description[1] noted, "LaVerne, CA - $10 1902 Plain Back Fr. 632 The First NB Ch. # 9599, In typical fashion, several notes are reported from here in the census, but appearances of these items for sale are few and far between. This example, formerly in the Colver collection, is a lovely note, with delicate blue pen signatures of E.H. Boly and L.E. Cree. Very Fine. Ex-Charles Colver collection sale, lot 1824."

"LaVerne, CA - $10 1929 Ty. 1 The First NB Ch. # 9599. A very scarce Los Angeles County bank with only ten examples listed in the census, including this piece which is crossing the auction block for the first time. Two different spellings of the town name were used on the small size issues, one with a space between La and Verne, and one without. This evenly circulated example bears the second spelling without the space. PMG Very Fine 20."

This specimen was lot 17783 in Heritage auction 354 (the Horwedel sale, Long Beach, CA, September 2004), where it sold for $2,300. The catalog description[1] noted, "LaVerne, CA - $10 1929 Ty. 2 The First NB Ch. # 9599, This note bears the second title layout used on Series 1929 notes from here, with the town name as one word rather than two. Fine."
