This specimen was lot 15437 in Stack's Bowers Baltimore sale (Baltimore, March 2016), where it sold for $1,762.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Fontana, California. $5 1929 Ty. 1. Fr. 1800-1. The First NB. Charter #12976. Fine. This San Bernardino County bank wasn't chartered until August of 1926 and didn't issue notes until the small size era began, issuing a total of just $151,830. The Type-1 $5 offered here spent considerable amount of time traveling the channels of commerce. However, bold inks and plenty of paper body remain. A small tear is seen at the top right edge."

This specimen was lot 17711 in Heritage auction 354 (the Horwedel sale, Long Beach, CA, September 2004), where it sold for $1,610. The catalog description[1] noted, "Fontana, CA - $10 1929 Ty. 1 The First NB Ch. # 12976, Although chartered in 1926, this San Bernardino County bank elected to issue Series 1929 examples only. Fine-Very Fine, with a small area of light staining on the left side. Ex- Philip Krakover collection sale, lot 89."
