This bank was missing in large size from Krakover, Litt and the Estate collection we sold last year. Nice About Fine." large size $20, date back
This specimen was lot 20291 in Heritage auction 3574 (Long Beach, CA, September 2019), where it sold for $1,560. The catalog description[1] noted,
"Claremont, CA - $20 1902 Date Back Fr. 644 The First NB Ch. # (P)9467 PMG Very Fine 25. A very scarce Los Angeles County bank in large size, with the census currently standing at just five notes (a number which will change with the succeeding lot). Included in that scant total is this piece which is the only Date Back of any denomination recorded. Making its first ever auction appearance, it is a moderately circulated note with good color and bold pen signatures. PMG has noted some toning to the paper and a couple of minor rust stains but the rarity and desirability of this scarce note more than offset those small flaws. From the Norris Turner Collection."
large size $20, plain back
This specimen was lot 20339 in Heritage auction 3563 (Chicago, April 2018), where it sold for $2,640. The catalog description[1] noted,
"Claremont, CA - $20 1902 Plain Back Fr. 652 The First NB Ch. # (P)9467, A very scarce Los Angeles County bank in large size, with the census standing at just five notes, only one of which has made a public appearance since 2005. That lone offering was in our recent FUN auction where a PMG Very Fine 25 specimen fetched $4,200. This pretty, well margined PMG Choice Very Fine 35 Plain Back, which was last on the market in a 2001 auction, should certainly exceed that number."

This specimen was lot 17649 in Heritage auction 354 (the Horwedel sale, Long Beach, CA, September 2004), where it sold for $977.50. From the January, 1995 Currency Auctions of America sale, lot 1786."
small size $10, type II
This specimen was lot 17650 in Heritage auction 354 (the Horwedel sale, Long Beach, CA, September 2004), where it sold for $1,495. The catalog description[1] noted, "Claremont, CA - $10 1929 Ty. 2 The First NB Ch. # 9467, An absolutely gorgeous Type 2 example that is a screaming gem but for the lightest of centerfolds. Choice About Uncirculated."

About Uncirculated. Formerly lot 1728 in our Charles Colver collection sale of May, 1999."
