large size $20
This specimen was lot 90153 in Stack's Bowers April 2018 Collectors Choice Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, April 2018), where it sold for $1,020. The catalog description[2] noted, "Anaheim, California. $20 1902 Plain Back. Fr. 650. The First NB. Charter #6481. PMG Choice Fine 15."
small size $10
The second note was lot 2677 in Goldberg sale 62 (Beverly Hills, February 2010), where it sold for $1,150. The catalog description[1] noted, "1929, $10 National Bank Note. The First NB, Anaheim, CA. PCGS Apparent Very Fine 20. Much rarer in small size than in large, with only four small size notes currently reported in the census, this bank folded in January, 1930, just as the financial panic that soon gripped the nation began to unfold. This note has a small edge tear at the top right of center, as mentioned by PCGS Currency, otherwise it is actually quite nice. Rare, and with two pieces here offered it may be a while before collectors have another chance." This note was previously lot 17590 in Heritage auction 354 (the Horwedel sale, Long Beach, CA, September 2004), where it sold for $1,150.
small size $20
The third note was lot 2680 in Goldberg sale 62 (Beverly Hills, February 2010), where it sold for $1,063.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "1929, $20 National Bank Note. The First NB, Anaheim, CA. PCGS Fine 15. A second opportunity to acquire a small size note from this rare bank, this piece just about as nice as the last."
