This specimen was lot 2458 in Steve Album Auction 54 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2026), where it sold for $60. The catalog description[1] noted, "FINLAND: Republic, 1 markka, 1921, struck at the Heaton Mint, Birmingham, a superb lustrous example! NGC graded MS65." The Finnish markka was introduced in 1860, while Finland was under Russian rule, and reformed in 1963 (100 old markka = 1 new markka) and retired in 2002 in favor of the euro. This type was struck 1921-24 with the 1921 being the most common date. At the time of the euro conversion, one markka = 17 euro cents.
