Finland 1873-S 25 pennia
This specimen was lot 283 in Sincona Auction 99 (Zürich, October 2025), where it sold for 400 CHF (about US$603 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"RUSSLAND Kaiserreich und Föderation, Alexander II. 1855-1881, 25 Penniä 1873 S, Helsinki Mint. Mintage for Finland. NGC MS65+. Überdurchschnittliche Erhaltung. (empire of Russia, Alexander II, 1855-81, twenty-five pence of 1873, Helsinki mint, struck for Finland. Extraordinary condition.)"
This type was struck in considerable quantity 1865-76, 1889-1917. The borders were modified slightly in 1872. While this date is not rare, it is scarce compared to the hoarded wartime issues of 1915-17.
