This specimen was lot 2194 in Goldberg's NY International sale 59 (New York, January 2023), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "25 Penniä 1868 S. Rare, semi-key. Toned. About very fine / Very fine." This type is listed for 1865-71 and was struck for Finland by the czarist administration. It is priced substantially higher than the later type (KM 6.2, with dentilated border) of 1872-1917. Russian defeats in World War One enabled the Finns, who had long chafed under Russian rule, to declare independence.
Recorded mintage: 136,000, the semi-key date.
