This specimen was lot 205 in Sincona sale 31 (Zurich, October 2016), where it sold for 500 CHF (about US$594 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "FRENCH PROTECTORATE | Reign of Ali Bey (1299-1320ah/1882-1902ce) 2 francs 1899ce/1317ah AR Gad 89, KM 225 300 RR -unc 10.02 g. Following the death of Jean Lagrange in the year 1896ce, Henri Auguste Jules Patey (1855-1930ce) was appointed chief engraver at the Paris Mint. His privy mark on coins is a torch."

struck 1981-1900 (and later). only 1891-92 is common. 10 g, .835 fine.
