This specimen was lot 736 in Stacks-Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2015), where it sold for $998.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Saxony. 2 Taler, 1854-F. NGC MS-64. Dav-874; KM-1149. Smoky overcast tone cannot hold back the reflective underlying surfaces. Most common date of the issue, but in extraordinary condition. Combined NGC/PCGS shows pop one, with only one finer in 65."
