This specimen was lot 30463 in Heritage sale 3037 (New York, January 2015), where it sold for $1,175. The catalog description[1] noted, "Joao III gold Cruzado ND (1521-57) AU50 NGC, Lisbon mint, Fr-26, Gomes-147.06. PORTV / VINC. Impressive in all respects, this handsome type features a round flan, bold details, and attractive, antique-golden patina with darker tone that clings to the devices. A solid, visually appealing specimen with light ghosting within the reverse legends, seldom encountered in this select quality and well-deserving of a strong bid."
