This specimen was lot 43810 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2019), where it sold for $2,640. The catalog description[1] noted, "PHILIPPINES. Octavo, 1773-M M. Charles III (1759-88). PCGS VF-30 Gold Shield. KM-3; Basso-5; cf.Cal-Type 191 (date not listed). VERY RARE early date. Typical crude manufacture. Far nicer than normally encountered, though slightly uneven. Slightly mis-aligned dies with a partial four digit date. Semi-glossy with attractive patina. A wholesome problem free example with good honest wear. An exciting piece sure to see interest from many collectors. From the Ray Czahor Collection. Purchased privately from Karl Stephens, c. 1986."
