This specimen was lot 25215 in Heritage sale 3024 (Chicago, April 2013), where it sold for $6,462.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Felipe V gold Cob 8 Escudos 1717 L-M, KM 38.2, XF, 26.95gms, Pillars with date/Cross of Jerusalem, a pleasing example of this large gold type with the central detail being essentially perfectly centered on the obverse and a full cross on the reverse. A tiny test scrape of no visual significance is noted on the edge at 4 o'clock."
