This specimen was lot 39070 in Stack's Bowers Winter sale (Baltimore, November 2015), where it sold for $763.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "CANADA. Newfoundland. 50 Cents, 1911. NGC MS-64. KM-12. Lowest mintage for the four-year series at 200,000, with nearly all surviving examples showing some degree of wear. The coin offered here is one of fewer than a dozen seen at PCGS and NGC at this level or higher. A special coin on multiple levels with blistering bright white luster, razor sharp devices, and mark-free fields."
