This specimen was lot 20589 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), where it sold for $2,880. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Nassau. 2 Talers, 1854. NGC MS-64+. KM-69. Sharply struck and delicately toned with velvety smooth luster and a single tiny mark in the field below the 'N' in 'NASSAU' that surely prevented MS-65 certification."
Dav-745, 37.12 g, .900 fine silver, m. 72,000. type also struck 1844. rather scarce. last double thaler struck 1860.
