This specimen was lot 39451 in Stack's Bowers Winter sale (Baltimore, November 2015), where it sold for $2,115. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Empire of Maximilian. 5 Centavos, 1864-P. NGC AU-50. KM-385.2. RARE. Only one example certified finer (AU-58) at NGC and PCGS. A very seldom offered date and mint mark combination. Bountiful amounts of remaining detail for the assigned grade. An always in demand coin from this short-lived series. Nicely toned and quite attractive."
