This specimen was lot 31206 in Heritage sale 3049 (Long Beach, September 2016), where it sold for $2,350. The catalog description[1] noted, "Maximilian 5 Centavos 1866-G MS64 NGC, Guanajuato mint, KM 385. The rare and final date from this three-year series, delivering outstanding visual allure in the form of teal and russet color that resides within the protected recesses. A deeply impressed obverse strike immediately catches the eye, and both sides present evidence of being struck with clashed dies. A superb near-Gem, absolutely choice in hand, and presently the singular highest-certified example of the type."
