This specimen was lot 31253 in Heritage sale 3035 (Long Beach, September 2014), where it sold for $10,575. The catalog description^[1] noted, "Republic gold 8 Escudos 1829 EoMo-LF AU50 NGC, Tlalpan mint (Estado de Mexico), KM383.4, Fr-69. Limited wear on the high points but a unusually handsome specimen, well struck and retaining significant luster. One of the key issues of the entire series, since very rare and the only collectible date of the short-lived Estado de Mexico 8 Escudos series (the 1828 date is essentially non-collectible since only 2 or 3 specimens are known). Among the few high grade specimens of this rare type, and worthy of a strong bid. From The Law Collection."
