The Banco Mercantil de Veracruz opened in 1898 and operated until the 1920's, after Carranza cancelled all bank charters. Five, ten, twenty, fifty, 100, 500 and 1000 peso notes exist altho only the five, ten and twenty are available. This $10 was issued 1900 thru 1914 and is common. Tens with the Orizaba, Xalapa or San Andres Tuxtla overprints also exist. This note was printed by ABNCo and measures 184 x 82 mm.
