This specimen was lot 21096 in Stack's Bowers 2018 NYINC sale (New York, January 2018), where it sold for $1,200. The catalog description[1] noted, "INDIA. Rupee, 1916 (C). Calcutta Mint. NGC PROOF-65. KM-524. Single finest graded of the date at either NGC or PCGS. Noted as a restrike on the holder. Mirror fields, slightly mottled attractive tone on the obverse displaying hues of blue and heather purple while the reverse remains practically tone free. A lovely example sure to excite even the most advanced collector of Indian numismatics."
