This specimen was lot 903 in Künker sale 293 (Osnabruck, Germany, July 2017), where it sold for €1,000 (about US$1,348 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"HESSEN, HESSEN-DARMSTADT, SEIT 1806 GROSSHERZOGTUM, Ludwig II. 1830-1848. Vereinsdoppeltaler 1841. AKS 99; Dav-702; Kahnt 264; Thun 195. Prachtexemplar. Herrliche Patina, vorzüglich-Stempelglanz. (grand duchy of Hesse-Darmstadt, Louis II, 1830-48, double union thaler of 1841. Proof example, beautiful patina, extremely fine to uncirculated.)"
