This specimen was lot 31364 in Heritage sale 3073 (Chicago, April 2019), where it sold for $5,760. The catalog description[1] noted, "Republic Proof Gourde 1881 PR62 NGC, Paris mint, KM 46. A commendable example of this first date in the series exhibiting the needle-sharpness and clarity only achievable with Proof emissions. Exceedingly light hairlines in the fields account for the grade, though the central devices themselves are almost free of any marks or handling. Lightly toned at the legends, resulting in superbly balanced visual appeal."
