Summary
This specimen was lot 35162 in Heritage sale 3094 (Chicago, August 2021), where it sold for $16,800. The catalog description[1] noted, "Sweden: Oscar II Proof 2 Kronor 1877-EB PR66 Cameo PCGS, Stockholm mint, cf. KM742 (unlisted in Proof), AAH-45, Hagander-Unl. A brilliant and excessively rare Swedish Proof, seemingly unpublished in this finish in the standard literature, with Proof strikings within the series always producing spirited attention among collectors. Laden with a thick mint frost over the raised elements while the neighboring fields are embellished with a lilac and salt-white coloration, it is difficult not to be taken in by this specimen's singular eye appeal, which on its own very much seems to secure the top-pop designation from PCGS. This is the only such example we have offered, with the D. Moore piece, the next closest, coming in at an MS66."
