This specimen was lot 25052 in Heritage sale 3032 (Chicago, April 2014), where it sold for $3,525. The catalog description[1] noted, "Victoria Proof Penny 1860, KM 749.2, S-3954, Freeman-12 (R17), PR65 Brown PCGS. A gorgeous Gem, infrequently encounter[ed] in the proof format, with full reflectivity in the fields and a stunning mixture of purple and blue iridescence in the fields. Extremely rare this nice and easily a candidate for finest known."
