This specimen was lot 21058 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), where it sold for $16,800. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. 5 Guineas, 1677. Charles II (1660-85). PCGS Genuine--Harshly Cleaned, AU Details Secure Holder. S-3328A; KM-430.1. Pointed truncation on bust. A sharply struck example of this elusive issue with a significant number of fine hairlines in the obverse fields that, while present, deter the overall appearance far less than the 'harshly cleaned' assignment would suggest. Worthy of careful consideration as such."
Fr-281 (no symbol), Fr-282 (elephant), Fr-283 (elephant & castle). 41.75 g, .917 fine gold. struck without symbol 1668-78 and a different bust 1678-84.
