This specimen was lot 898 in Jean Elsen list 269 (Brussels, July-August 2014), where it was offered for €1,000 (about US$1,361). The catalog description[1] noted,
"FRANCE, Royaume, Louis XIV (1643-1715), AR demi-écu aux huit L, 1690 P, Dijon. 1er type. Avec LUD· dans la légende. 1e réformation. Droit: B. drapé à droite. Revers: Croix formée de huit L couronnés, cantonnés de quatre lis. Superbe (kingdom of France, Louis XIV (1643-1715), silver half écu of eight 'L's' of 1690, Dijon mint, first type, with "LUD" in the legend, first reformation. Obverse: draped bust to right; reverse: cross formed of eight 'L's', four fleur-de-kys in the fields. Extremely fine.)"
