This specimen was lot 23424 in Heritage sale 3030 (New York, January 2014), where it sold for $7,931.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "Republic gold 10 Colones 1899, KM 140, Fr-20, MS64 NGC. The lowest mintage of this short-lived, three-year type. Fully brilliant mint luster with only minor marks. A conditionally rare issue and none have been certified finer by NGC."
