This specimen was lot 20430 in Heritage sale 3021 (New York, January 2013), where it sold for $1,175. The catalog description[1] noted, "Central American Republic gold Escudo 1849-JB CR, KM14, AU53 NGC, very bold and attractive with every leaf on the Ceiba tree clearly visible. Scarce without the lion countermark. The Cecil Webster Collection of Costa Rica."
