This specimen was lot 40006 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), where it sold for $2,160. The catalog description[1] noted, "COLOMBIA. 1760-J Escudo. Popayán mint. Carlos III (1759-1788). Restrepo 48.1. AU-58 (PCGS). Lively and lustrous light yellow gold with undimmed reflectivity at the peripheries. Choice in appearance and showing only the typical handling associated with the grade. An important issue, the first in the name of Carlos III though depicting the bust of Ferdinand VI. From the Eldorado Collection of Colombian Coins. Ex. Ponterio and Wyatt, July 1981."
