This specimen was lot 30599 in Heritage sale 3049 (Long Beach, September 2016), where it sold for $1,762.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Charles IV gold 8 Escudos 1792 So-DA MS61 NGC, Santiago mint, KM 54. A bright example with sharp legends, a well-defined reverse shield and a touch of softness on Charles' portrait; the reverse surfaces remain in fully Select-level (MS63) quality! Extremely scarce in Uncirculated grades and the only example of the date to thus far breach the MS tier at NGC or PCGS."
