This specimen was lot 32163 in Heritage sale 3041 (Chicago, August 2015), where it sold for $3,172.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Chile, Ferdinand VII gold 4 Escudos 1816 So-FJ XF40 NGC, Santiago mint, KM 77. A wholesome coin, with even wear on the higher points and free of distracting surface marks. Possibly the rarest date - with a reported mintage of 100 pieces - of this elusive type, no dates of which were represented in the Eliasberg collection. Rare in any grade and most collectible in this unflawed quality."
