This specimen was lot 29512 in Heritage sale 3040 (Long Beach, April 2015), where it sold for $1,175. The catalog description[1] noted, "Ferdinand VII gold 8 Escudos 1813/2 SO-FJ UNC Details (Excessive Surface Hairlines) NGC, Santiago mint, KM 78, Onza-1354. Cleaning evidence in the fields account for the designation, but a lustrous specimen well struck on an above average flan. Still scarce in this preservation despite the noted flaws."
