This specimen was lot 23174 in Heritage sale 3030 (New York, January 2014), where it sold for $3,525. The catalog description[1] noted, "Republic gold 20000 Reis 1909, KM 497, Russo-728, MS63 NGC. Heavy obverse die polish lines (as made) produce a mesmerizing luster and light tone further elevates the eye appeal. A high-end example with few visual hindrances - very close to the next numerical grade."
