This specimen was lot 1206 in Classical Numismatic Group's sale of the Lissner Collection (Chicago, August 2014), where it sold for $1,331. The catalog description[1] noted, "BOLIVIA, Republic. 1825-present. AV 1/2 Escudo. Potosí mint, Luis de Aquilar and Rafael Mariano Bustillo, assayers. Dated 1842 PTS LR. “BOLIAR” error. In NGC encapsulation graded MS 64. Choice lustrous BU with lovely strike. Faint orange peel toning. Error not shown on holder. Only one other graded, at AU 58. Extremely rare. Purchased from Pat Johnson, June 1970."

KM 104; C 63; Friedberg 30. 1.7 g, .875 fine gold, this specimen 14 mm, 1.69 g, 12h axis. type struck 1841-47 and cheapest Bolivian gold coin.
