Stack's Bowers February 2024 Collector's Choice sale, lot 74435

This specimen was lot 74435 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2024), where it sold for $168. The catalog description[1] noted, "FIJI. Silver 10 Dollars (5 Ounces), 2012. Elizabeth II. GEM UNCIRCULATED. The reverse depicts the Hawkbill Turtle. Attractive." Many other NCLT's were struck in 2012. Fiji left the British Commonwealth in 1987 but rejoined in 1997. Wikipedia comments,

"The hawksbill sea turtle (Eretmochelys imbricata) is a critically endangered sea turtle belonging to the family Cheloniidae. The species has a global distribution that is largely limited to tropical and subtropical marine and estuary ecosystems."
