This specimen was lot 32669 in Heritage sale 3089 (Dallas, TX, January 2021), where it sold for $3,120. The catalog description[1] noted, "Great Britain. Edward VI (1547-1553) Crown 1552 VF25 PCGS, Tower mint, Tun mm. A captivating example of this scarce type bestowed with a steely lilac tone that darkens at the peripheries, with superb legends that remain sharp due to being just slightly recessed against the centers." Davenport notes this issue of 1551-53 as the first and only English crown of the sixteenth century. It was struck at the Tower and Southwark mints.
