This specimen was lot 4220 in Künker sale 441 (Osnabrück, March 2026), where it sold for €800 (about US$1,101 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"EMDEN, STADT Reichstaler o. J. (1618/1637), mit Titel Ferdinands II. Feine Patina, kl. Schrötlingsfehler, sehr schön +. (city of Emden, undated thaler struck in the name of Ferdinand II. Fine patina, small planchet cracks, very fine or better.)"
The town of Emden lies on the windswept shores of Ostfriesland on the North Sea. Another version of this thaler, with initials CP added, is attributed to Dav-5247.
